The folk music skein will be unravelling for the seventh time this summer. This time ballads, the sound of bagpipes and Nordic music have twined around the musical skein of Sommelo. For good measure, the scent of freshly baked bread will be wafting about at the central venue of the Festival. This summer, the performers of Sommelo will come from Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Russia, France and Greenland.
Layers of time will be traced, skies will be stargazed, a land of dreams will be headed for, roots will be found, crimes will be atoned for and love will be passionate during this year’s Sommelo Festival. We shall dig into myths and timeless tonal worlds, we shall question movement and create new improvisations. Cross-over projects will be discovered in the sphere of dance and literature. Children will be offered joyful moments and tunes from the Hidden Forest.
